Community Partnerships at Target

Ryan Fahrmann | Published on 8/5/2021

First and foremost, a quick introduction – Hi! I’m Ryan Fahrmann and I currently serve as a board member at-large with MAVA, and have been recently appointed to serve as a co-chair for MAVA’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Governance committee. My day job is as a Sr. Manager at Target, leading a Target.com team. Nice to meet you!

As a proud MAVA board member, and Target team member, I wanted to drive awareness of the continuous connection and support communities that Target serves. This commitment to community spans not only the US, but also globally, where operations connected to our supply chain and other HQ locations reside. You can see the impact for yourself, and learn more about community partnerships by visiting A Bullseye View - select the ‘Corporate Responsibility’ dropdown to learn more about how Target is engaging and partnering with communities and organizations to have a positive impact. You may also find information about a recent commitment to people and planet called Target Forward. The vision is simple: to co-create an equitable and regenerative future with our guests, partners and communities. I am personally really excited about this effort, because it drives so much change in an industry that has such a broad impact on all of us, and our planet.

Additionally, Target has been giving to local non-profits through an innovative program called Target Circle. For every purchase an enrolled Circle guest makes, a vote is earned that can be cast for a local non-profit. At the end of each cycle, a corresponding amount of funding is awarded to those organizations based on votes received. Here’s a quick snippet about the impact Target Circle has had within the first year of the program.

Lastly, some exciting news! Beginning in October (for those in the Twin Cities), you will see MAVA as one of the featured organizations to vote for in Target Circle! So, for those of you already a member of Target Circle, keep an eye out starting in October to cast your votes! If you aren’t signed up for Circle, it is free and you can learn more and sign-up here. Quick and easy, and you can save yourself some money in the process.

Make sure to check out all of the resources available to non-profits and community organizations, and enjoy what is left of your summer!
