One of the most talked about trends in volunteerism is volunteers making shorter time commitments. However, there is very little documentation about how this trend manifests and how organizations are responding. In March 2015, MAVA surveyed 255 leaders of volunteers and nonprofit managers to learn more about the experiences and responses of organizations regarding this trend of shorter-term volunteerism. This survey focuses on one-time commitments as well as commitments ranging from one to four months. We learned about the challenges this trend presents and strategies developed for successfully responding to it.
