Karmit Bulman Announces Her Departure From MAVA
MAVA's Executive Director, Karmit Bulman will be departing the organization on June 14, 2024.
With almost nine years in her role, Karmit has led MAVA’s growth in impact, mission achievement, and size of staff and budget. During these years MAVA has also become the largest non-governmental funder of volunteer engagement in the world.
MAVA’s program expansion increased its reach through Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programming, the Student Success Program, cutting-edge conferences and workshops, capacity-building programs (VISTA and Service Enterprise), and through research, connection, and advocacy.
"Karmit's contributions to MAVA are immeasurable," said Jen Thorson, chair of the board of directors." She provided the vision for the MAVA of today and oversaw significant growth in our impact on Minnesota and beyond. The board and I wish her all the best and are grateful for her tireless service as MAVA's biggest champion."
Upon hearing the news, one MAVA staff member remarked, “It’s the end of an era.” However, Karmit is proud to depart MAVA knowing it is a strong, one-of-a-kind organization. She expresses her gratitude for the support and opportunities presented to her during her tenure at MAVA.
After departing MAVA, Karmit plans to re-engage with her business, Turnaround Solutions and will continue teaching at the U and Metro State. She can be reached until June 14th at kbulman@mavanetwork.org.
Please stay tuned for announcements from the MAVA Board of Directors regarding an executive director search process.
