Ready to lead change? Join MAVA VISTA!
What MAVA Does
The Minnesota Association for Volunteer Administration (MAVA) connects, educates, strengthens, and advocates for volunteer engagement leaders and their organizations to positively impact communities.
As an intermediary organization for the Americorps VISTA project, MAVA provides professional development, training, and administrative support to a cohort of VISTA members. By joining the MAVA VISTA cohort you have the support of a large volunteer management network along with access to all of MAVA's trainings, including our Volunteer Impact Leadership Series, at little or no cost to you the VISTA member.
The Cohort Experience
MAVA VISTA members participate in our learning cohort which consists of all VISTA members serving at each of our individual host sites. We meet biweekly to build your skill set, grow your network and launch your career. You will feel the support of a peer learning cohort while you build the capacity of your host organization through activities such as fundraising, grant writing, research, and volunteer recruitment. AmeriCorps members in the VISTA program serve in an office setting and gain experience and leadership skills. This opportunity prepares members for a life of service in the public, private, or nonprofit sector.
What Members Do
Members serving in the AmeriCorps VISTA program serve full time for one-year terms. They build capacity in nonprofit organizations and public agencies to help them more effectively generate the commitment of private sector resources, encourage volunteer service at the local level, and empower individuals and communities.
